TLDR; Do you take issue with babyfaces cashing in the MITB on vulnerable/hurt champions?
The recent post remembering Big E’s cash in on Bobby Lashley reminded me how bitter sweet that moment was, to me. I’m a huge Big E fan but I was annoyed they had this super babyface, who always fought for good, cash in on the champion after he was hurt and injured.
I commented this and got downvoted a lot. I’m surprised! Is the general consensus that y’all like babyfaces doing this?
RVD was the first babyface to win it, and he called his shot. He used the contract to gain home field advantage and have his title shot be at friendly grounds. (This, to me, is the best way for a face to use it. Either gain home field advantage, or a rising babyface star uses it to main event a big PPV that they otherwise wouldn’t have.)
A babyface CM Punk cashed in on Jeff Hardy after a match and it was the catalyst to Punk’s heel turn. Wrestlers actively pointed out how it was a dick move. Daniel Bryan did the same years later. If you were a face and cashed in on a vulnerable wrestler, it was considered a heel move!
To me, there should be more versatility to how guys are cashing in. Seeing my favorite heroes taking the easy way out seems lame. Thoughts?
