Broken tomatoe stem update and question.

Post Body

My stem broke last week and I was left with the large branch. I trimmed my stem and a new branch or stem has emerged near the base and is growing fast, about an inch a day.

Do I leave the original branch or should I cut my original stem down to where the new stem is forming? It looks like a new plant. Is a new plant forming or is this just a branch I should leave in addition to the original one.

I have limited knowledge but my guess is I should cut everything down to the new โ€œplantโ€ forming. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Sorry for any confusion , itโ€™s hard to explain but I hope the picture helps.
