When Verizon callers call my Sprint phone, they don't hear the ringing sound. Anyone else?

I live in upstate NY. A lot of my friends have Verizon. When they call me, my phone rings, but they just hear silence. I called Sprint about it, they called me to test it, and claimed to have heard it ringing. ...so of course they'll say it's Verizon's problem.
...anyone else having this issue? Any ideas how to resolve it?
