So, I've noticed today the gov.uk standard and definition for an unmarried parter visa has changed to include the below;
- you’ve been in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply but you cannot live together, for example because you’re working or studying in different places, or it’s not accepted in your culture
Do you think the visa and immigration system would be a good reason to not be currently living together?
Me and my partner both want to live together more than anything - we have been in a substantial relationship for 4 years now. We have message history, trips, I can get written signed statements from friends/family about the relationship and I have on multiple occasions finantial supported him (and he supports me when he can to). Birthday cards, valentines day cards etc. Well over the 2 year requirements.
Nether of us really want to be married. We're a gay couple - we were going to get married for immigration reasons - as we do love each other that much we just don't really believe in needed a bit of paper to prove it to each other. A civil partnership would be more realistic but a fiancie visa is just a lot of extra hassle - and money - as we can get married in the states but we can't get in a civil partnership as it isn't recognised there.
Sorry it's a huge post. Hope for some advise.
Thanks
