I have been on 25mg of spironolactone for 6 weeks and so far it has done nothing but make my skin worse and break out in other areas Iāve never broken out in. My anxiety has never been this bad - I donāt know if itās due to my acne worsening or side effects of spiro, or both.
I know everyoneās saying to stick it out for 3-6 months but I feel like Iām on such a low dose as it is (Iām a bit confused as no one else seems to be on such a low dose) that I just donāt if itās even going to do anything.
Iāve got my script from a doctor and not a derm so I donāt know how much they even know about it :(
Iām so so stuck and donāt know if Iāll regret coming off it without giving it a proper go but Iāve seen alot of people on here saying it never worked for them anyway so Iām trying to make an informed decision š
I was on accutane before and found the mental and physical side effects easier than this :(
Lots of love x
the incorrect dosage can cause acne flares..
i was on 100mgs and having issues. my Derm told me that happens blah blah and we moved up to 150mgs. no problem.
yours is like the second post i've seen that said it has caused anxiety?... I'm unfamiliar with that as a side effect..
I also recommend getting on a BC that's rated to treat acne. there are only a handful of them (you can google).. My Derm prescribed mine but you can get it from your PCP of course.
I have anxiety separate from my acne... and the spiro BC cleared up my cystic acne and pushed my HS into remission. so I don't really think anxiety can Keep it there if you've got the proper treatment...
butttt idk what all your issues are/what your lifestyle is/whatever.

ahhh.
Maybe do Spiro (upping the dose) and a topical? I really have enjoyed tarazotene .1%.. It's stronger than Tret.
