I have this old Spider-Man action figure made by Toy Biz in 2005 of a Spider-Man wearing a red mask with no webs and a solid black suit with a large red spider and red that goes down the legs. Out of curiosity I was trying to figure out today where that character came from (what comics or media he was inspired by) but I am having trouble finding ANYTHING about him. After a lot of searching I was able to find some listings online for a Toy Biz action figure that looks very similar to mine but was made in 1996 instead, yet none of the listings contain packaging or any other information about the figure.

So, does any one have any idea what Spider-Man this is? What was he based off of?
