Basically, i have some friends and family that i've talked to about the homecoming movie. Some of them haven't seen Captain America Civil War yet, and from what they've seen from the trailers, they think this version of Peter Parker doesn't actually have any powers outside of the suit, and is basically handed everything from stark. Now i know that this isn't the case, but for them they were turned off of the movie and didn't want to see it, until i explained to them that this version of Peter Parker does have powers, they just didn't want to redo the origin story for the third time. Does anybody else think this might hurt the movie financially? The people i've talked to about the movie loved Maguire's version of Spider-Man, and they really like how he's self sufficient and never really needs help (comparative to the immediate iron man team up). What I'm trying to say is maybe the trailers are giving people the wrong impression about this Spider-Man right off the bat, and people who don't love the character as much as i do and aren't as well versed in the previous movies/source material/generally don't read into a movie besides trailers might not watch this movie in theaters because it seems bad to them. I tried to look at it from their viewpoint, and without watching Captain America: Civil War, there really isn't any indication Spider-Man has any actual powers. (specifically this trailer made them think this https://youtu.be/y6i7aF9oBk8 ) TLDR: the trailers might be giving normal people who aren't big spider-man fans the wrong idea, especially fans of the Raimi Trilogy.
