My neighbours are from Mexico and last night they had a cookout, we've never really spoken much but they brought us a plate of food(it was very delicious!). We would like to return the favour and I was planning to write a thank you note in spanish, but my father thinks that would be rude.
So my question is; would it be rude to write the note in spanish? I'm certain they speak English but at home they don't prefer it(they almost never speak it whenever I can hear them). My spanish isn't very good but I am learning and from my experience people like to see others interested in their native language.
Also this is the note I have planned so far(please correct me or give me tips to make my note better)
