Why does everyone rush through levels and not explore explore

I haven’t played too long, but everyone in the lower levels of OPERATIONS keeps rushing through it when there’s no bonus XP for time. They just run past all the equipment along the way, audio logs, armory data, and those XP bonus points. Does this problem persist in the higher difficulty? I don’t understand what the hurry is.
