Does anyone find Southampton boring?

M 34, from the US, been here since 2019. Does anyone else find the city a little boring? It’s an incredibly difficult place to meet people without taking up some sort of hobby or hanging out with work people.
In short; I just wanted to find a pub where I could watch football results roll in and chat with people.
Alternatively, I’m also open to going on a 3 day bender if anyone can recommend.
