The Mason jar boil method?

I've seen a lot of stuff ab this online, tempted to try it, but hear it wouldn't decarb the bud.
If I put bud and something like coconut oil inside a Mason jar, in boiling water for 2-3 hours would it or would it not decarb and infuse? Not everything you see on the internet is true, so I figured I'd ask on a few subreddits.
