I received the dehydrated starter in the mail probably 2 weeks ago. I've fed it every day and it's been doubling if not tripping in size within a couple hours. I feel it the same way I feed my other starter-same schedule, same flour, same water. Problem is the Oregon trail one has a scent. It's not like acetone or wine, but it smells like cheese kind of? Today I smelled it in the jar and it smelled like bread so I went ahead and mixed up my dough. When I went to do my first set of stretch and folds I smelled the cheese scent. I've baked with it before and it was fine but the smell throws me off. It's not the flour or the water because my other bread doesn't have that smell. I made 2 exact batches with the only difference being the starter used to be sure. I'm hoping it's okay because it's a very active starter and I love it. Has anyone tried this starter and noticed a smell or tried it and not noticed a smell?
