First time using starter stored in fridge for a recipe. What's the correct way to take it out and feed it to use over the weekend?

My plan was to take it out of the fridge, let it come to room temp, feed it 50/50 of the amount needed for the recipe, and let it sit overnight to use the next day. Is this correct or does this risk the starter falling too much, and not having the correct amount to use for the recipe?
