Here's something I wrote as I am working on sustainable culture and community. Thought some of you might like to read it. Much love 🌿

We live in a time where we have unwittingly submitted ourselves to a system of entrapment and fear. We do not consciously want this, it is simply the world we were born into. This system is fed by our 40 hour work weeks, our exhaustion prompting us to buy fast food and stimulants to keep our wheels turning. Rent is the big ugly monster, the audacity for one man to claim ownership over our sovereign land and then sell those ‘rights’ to us. Houses full of insulation, plastic, and drywall, our sanctuary from the desert landscape of our society. How can we detach from the system? It is the prison we find ourselves in. But remember, this prison is an illusion.

We must take back what is ours. Enough with the grass lawns, plastic foods, and zoning codes that restrict our natural freedom. We know how to build earthen houses with natural AC and heat, using only air flow and natural cycles of the sun. We can grow food over the entire world, call forth the rain, and live in a paradise of our dreams.

This journey is for the bold, the strong willed, the lion-hearted. It does not concede to fear mongering or the idea that we must ‘prove our worth’ to get our bread. Fuck that, we make our own bread, and we make it fucking delicious. We sing with the birds and play with the cows, living in harmony with the earth and all beings. We do not have any interest in red tape. We do not need to ask ‘okay, but who will pay for it?’ Money is a man’s conceived notion. The apple tree does not wait upon the dollar to blossom. The bees do not pay rent.

You may think this will be a lot of work. And it will be, but not in the sense you may think of it. This work will entail a simple, humble, harmonious rhythm with the earth. Can you imagine how fun it would be to work with the clay in your own hands to build your home, your world? We can make wizard healing potions out of leaves and twigs. We can have those fairy tale dream cottages in the woods, dance with the stars, and live free. Construct great works of art and have festivals anytime we want.

Many of us are already building these sustainable communities, living in earthships and growing food forests. We must remember that while this is a monumental idea, it is taken in small steps every day.

Our first and foremost needs for all humans are food, shelter, and natural medicines. This can be done on a small scale, globally, in every city. Special care must be taken to open our homes and lands back up to the animal kingdom. No living thing shall be caged. All things are living. Bird cages are remnants of times past.

Many cities now have a lot of homeless people sleeping on the streets, asking for help and food, shuffled around a system which functionally continues these problems instead of solving them. Even goes so far as to penalize those in need.

There is enough produce thrown away in the United States every day to feed the entire world for two days. What a staggering concept. Clearly resources are not the issue, there is an abundance, it is just not available to the common person. There are enough empty buildings to house anyone who is unhoused. While this is an intriguing concept, I believe it would be too much of a shock to the system to simply move everyone in overnight. I believe we must work with the system in very small ways to make the extraction a clean operation. If you are hasty when you pull the tick out you may leave the head. We must do this gently, efficiently, without the motive of profit or ownership to cloud the needs of our fellow man. We must move forward with love in our hearts.

Many people have made it their mission to dream up this world, there are countless systems and designs we have made for permaculture, sustainable community, and resource management. The work has already been done in this sense. The blueprints have been drawn by the hands of many souls here.

I personally am drawn to orchestrating these systems and helping people come together. I also have a passion for building and dream of earthbag homes in a gentle smattering across the hillsides. Paradise culture. We all have our personal thumbprint and impact upon the world, and it is important to remember that we are all visionaries, and we all want to live a peaceful and happy life. There is no battle to fight, no hill to die on. We are already here.

I live in Prescott, AZ currently and have been working with the energy of the city to visualize how things could possibly progress. There are about 45,000 people that live here as of 2022, and from my perspective I believe about three thousand people would be immediately open to move into sustainable community space. Not all of these people are necessarily homeless, but they may be working at the stressful understaffed grocery store and not sure if they still have a place to rent next month. Or perhaps the idea of living cheap/free/happy in a tiny home or van next to your friends sounds like a dream you had last week…fruits and vegetables all around, pigs and cats and dogs playing close by.

What I envision is a few RV/trailer parks with tent camping that could immediately house people as fast as needed. Renting trailer space out for a few hundred dollars a month and $20/week for tent camping. This will allow anyone who needs a place to just be, where they can live and cook and relax during the day, to have it immediately. Three acre parcels of land in varying magnitude could achieve this quickly. Of course larger communities with sustainable/permanent houses will develop as we work more with dropping restrictive laws. In this tri-city you are not even legally allowed to have a tiny home. This is of course nonsense and we will work to change how we live together. We can all live in peace.

I also have designed a simple work program that could give anyone work who wants to make money. Paying people $20/hr as independent contractors is a simple way for someone to make $200/day if wanted! And also for the company to charge $25 or $30/hr for customers to allow the company to grow and provide resources regarding safety and tools. We can focus on entry level labor and have plenty of room for growth and skilled labor. Moving jobs, landscaping, cleaning, painting, general labor, cooking are all needs of any city. Service is always needed, and always available. We simply align people with the work that will benefit themselves and their community most, and make it easy and enjoyable to accomplish. A few vans and trucks with several hundred dollars of basic hand tools will allow for hundreds of people to work at a low initial investment.

The rates of the RV park are only in place to enable a smoother transition to actual ‘free living’, the price of the land will be paid back in a year or perhaps several, funded by these very low 'rents'. This opens the scope a little further as to accessibility and funding. With the job services readily available to anyone in the RV park it would take four hours of work a week to pay rent (for trailer space) or one hour a week for anyone in a tent. There will be no restrictions on how long you can stay or how you use the space as long as it does not infringe upon the well being of another. And, as a natural tendency we humans have, we beautify and sanctify the spaces we occupy.

With this model I see it being easy to have a well on site, with a common building available to all.. Including large kitchen space, tv/game/library room, showers, bathrooms (composting), with used water management directed into gardens. Solar or alternative energy is best advised. Well water available freely to all and water lines into common spaces. Once the well drilling kit is purchased it can be used to drill wells for thousands of communities.

Entire forests can develop from a few seeds. We change the world block by block, home by home. We can do this kind of work in every city across the world, and there are many of us whose soul's desire is to create heaven on earth.

With this model I believe we can eradicate homelessness and basically any need a community has, and expand into building true sustainable communities all over the world. Humans blossom when they are given water and sunlight, we start to see people fulfill their hearts desires, follow their dreams, give into their passions. We see the world becoming green and fertile yet again.

As we continue to build our natural communities and villages, we find that instead of clocking in to do our tedious task (to buy our bread and pay our rent), we really get to know our neighbors, and our work consists of helping ourselves and others live an aligned life. Benny down the road has a great idea for an outdoor bread oven, and Tammy loves working with stone so she helps him build it. We have bountiful farmers markets, where those who love to grow food bring it to share, and healers visit those who need healing. Teachers teach, builders build, bakers bake.

A paradigm shift.
