Xperia 1IV heat issues (community poll from those with phone)
Post Body

curious if the heating issues is a vocal minority or something for potential buyers to be concerned with. Please only participate if you have the phone and if you could also give a usage case break down for yourself ie: Firmware version, 120hz creator mode, screen brightness level, wifi / bluetooth enabled, background applications, screen protector, what type of case if any, if you are using 5g, what your network signal strength is like, how long are you using the camera apps before heat issues/ throttling occurs, what applications are causing heat up and throttling outside of camera applications?. Anything that might give a glimpse into the reason these issues are ocuring for some but not others

For myself, outside of the first days use, I have not had any heating issues in any of my standard use cases, No throttling, no 120hz dropping to 60hz. This included recording 10 minutes at 4k 120 fps while on a phone call and out walking with only the heat warning appearing on the screen, I could have kept recording without issues as the secondary heat warning had not appeared yet. I was able to get the videography pro app to force a shutdown today while having the phone sitting stationary recording at 4K 120 fps in 21c ambient after 8:30 seconds of recording, this is not a standard use case for anyone, and I consider this completely acceptable.

For me I have 120hz active, about 60% screen brightness, no 5g, network settings adjusted to lte, umts, gsm. I regularly close applications after use so there is generally nothing running in the background while I use the camera. Wifi and bluetooth are normally on, I have a glass screen protector and silicone? clear tpu? case. edit: firmware version 64.0.A.5.27

thanks for all of your time and help with collecting information for others to use and glean from.

edit: one thing I'd like those to try who are having heating issues is to remove their sd cards if they have one installed. This is simply based on an other users post regarding over heating on the 1 III and how removing their 6 year old card and restarting fixed their problem. Curious to see what affect it has here.
