Buying a refurbished Sony Xperia 1 IV in 2024

Hi r/SonyXperia,

I am not a fan of the front hole on screens and have been progressively feeling disappointed every year with the lack of phones like the Xperia line that dont have the screen hole. I am currently using the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro bought in 2019 and have been considering a new phone because I'm stuck on Android 11 and it is possible that bank apps will stop supporting it in a year or two.

I've been checking out my choices and it's basically Sony, Asus or ZTE nubia line, but the latter two seem to be pretty iffy quality wise. Sony is the most expensive of the bunch and the local prices of the 1 V or 5 V are pretty eye-watering for what I'm earning. Luckily, there's a reputable refurbished phone seller that's selling an Xperia 1 IV for a very decent price but I would like to get some opinions of how the phone has held up over the past 2 years.

I'm not exactly a photo person and rarely take photos, and usually use my phone for light gaming and e-book reading. How good would this phone be for my purposes? Also I've heard the phone just recently got the latest Android 14 update; has there been any major issues with that too?

Another point I'm worried about is the "green line" thing I've seen many random commenters on r/Android curse Sony about, how susceptible is the 1 IV to that?

Thanks in advance for any good advice or experience suggestions.
