Have played with a friend and would like to bring up a few positives from this game before getting into the negatives.
Having Kelvin is nice, a companion that can help do basic resource gathering is a big plus. The game looks fantastic, definitely a step up from the previous one. So far having fought a few cannibals and a few mutants, their hatred towards each other is interesting, and the first big mutant I came across in a cave absolutely messed me up quick. Unsure what the three legged lady wants and where she keeps trying to take me, but perhaps I will find out at some point.
Some gripes.
Berries are basically worthless, they supply little to no food or water, I doubt I'll put in any effort to grow them.
The inventory system SUCKS. Not only do I have to move my mouse all over the place to look for basic crafting mats hidden off screen, but there is no hotkey system to pull out gear, I have to hold "I" then click on what I want. And I can only have 2 weapons in the grab bag at a time. Major bummer.
After the inventory, SCREW this new building system. Not only is the book for it setup in a completely annoying way, but so far the structures seem far more restricted, and the way you build changing from a framework you layout and fill with mats to you equipping the resource and then maneuvering it in some way to place it is just slow and tedious. Oh, and cant forget having to use the axe to point the tip of each damn log in your security fence. And why is there no gate? Had to try to make a door and now there's just an ugly gap because the normal walls don't like to snap to security walls.
I used to enjoy building in this game, and I hope they either make a drastic change and bring back the old system, or someone makes a mod that overrides building with the OG method.
As of right now I likely won't be doing much building and simply relying on a tent as needed, and just try to beat the game as quick as possible vs making huge fortresses and elaborate ziplines.
