I’m sure you guys get an influx of these types of questions, so I’m sorry but here’s one more. With Sonic 3 coming out can you recommend what games I need to play?

I've never played a sonic game except for the first level of the first game. Other than that I've never seen or played any other game. I've also never seen any of the shows. But I loved the two movies prior and I'm gassed for Sonic 3.
In the meantime, can you recommend which games I need to play and in what order to get caught up with Sonic 3. I especially want to play Super Saiyan Sonic.
And any of the series that are worth watching.
