Something notable about Sonic Generations with this remaster coming out is that a good third of its voice cast isn't part of the series anymore.
Troy Baker as Espio, Laura Bailey as Omochao and Blaze, Quinton Flynn as Silver, Travis Willingham as Knuckles, and Kate Higgins as Tails. All have since left the franchise. That's more characters with voices that have since been replaced than... Unleashed, to compare.
Given how tough it always was for pre-2010 voice actors to be acknowledged... this is still just as much backpedaling for one game, even if some of this game's iconic voices like Roger Craig Smith's Sonic and Mike Pollock's Eggman are still around.
And a lot of them aren't identical voice swaps, never mind if Omochao needed new tutorial dialogue for one reason or another, or if any new dialogue is required for bonus content or maybe even story alterations. They'd either need all those old performers back or wipe the slate and use the new ones. This isn't a straight port like the HD Adventure releases, they're adding new content to this release.
Who knows, they might just keep everything regardless, and it really doesn't matter regardless because they're all good performances; but this is the first time something of this scale has happened with a modern remake to my knowledge, so it's interesting to theorize what SEGA would do.
