So I've been shifiting my procress to be not melody or chords first, but instead trying to write them together. This has been a big help for me I've found. The problem I am having is regardless, you sometimes just have the chord progressions you wanna use first. I've been messing around with one and I swear for the life of me I just cannot figure out something that doesn't sound like complete garbage.
It feels like when I write them together, I have a vision, but when I write chords, I add a bass, some drums, and then it's like I can't even picture a melody on top of it, but it's clearly empty without it too.
Any tips for breaking through this weird rut?
