I have been trying to figure out my social media presence. Basically, this year my goal is to put out a single or two. I am in the process of preparing them for production with a friend/collaborator. I am wondering if its necessary that I build a following first before releasing. I was posting covers of songs on TikTok and IG reels that are not getting a lot of traction or new followers and I am getting a bit frustrated. Do I just say "f*ck it" and release what I have written sans that huge following? And then just build social media from there? For context, I created new accounts for my music and only have 50 followers (quite embarrassed haha).
I guess I feel in my head that I don't "deserve" to release anything professionally unless I get a relatively good number of followers. Help me undo my mindset omg. In my head I feel like my first post (I have archived my covers now) shouldn't be my original music and peddling it to everyone's faces. Help!
