Greetings to my UK Social Work friends on Reddit! 👋🏽
I am looking to move to work and practice Social Work in the UK 🇬🇧❤️💙, most specifically England or in Scotland. However on the UK Government Registry requirement for Overseas qualifications it does not indicate the academic level needed to satisfy this requirement for the registry.
So two questions that I had,
Can a Bachelor in Social Work at a Uni satisfy this? ( Or does it need to be a Master’s Degree )
Lastly, I don’t understand what “certification” means. Sorry, while I do understand the meaning of certification. We just don’t have any certification needed for us to work as a social worker here in the US, other than our bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Here in the US; they just give us our diploma and academic transcripts for the courses and grades we received in uni. We also do not register as Social Workers in my state of California, unless it is a Clinical License Social Worker (which you need to complete a masters to apply). However, bachelor’s in Social Work, allows you to be a social worker in California. Just not a clinical practitioner, like working in hospitals and making clinical decisions on patients.
Thank you kindly for the responses ☺️
