I see a lot of the arguments against big government and socialist policies being "well look how it turned out in China and Russia." I disagree with this argument but also realized I'm really not knowledgeable enough on these two countries. How legitimate is this argument? How socialist is each one? How capitalist is each one? How democratic vs authoritarian are they? What have they been like historically compared to today? How much has socialist policy and big government shaped their current government? How corrupt are they and how did they get to that point? What do they do wrong and what do they do right? In what ways do they compare and contrast to the US government? Also to the more "socialist" European countries
