Approved for ss but still working wage limits asking for friend

OK go good family friend just got approved for ss. Starts getting checks in July but has been working full time so far in anticipation of working PT hours due to health. If she's made say 15k this year is she still capped at the yearly working limit or does that start the following year? She turns 66 this month and is before the 66 yr 9 mo cap where working with wages isn't capped. Thanks
