Hi all gurus,
I am starting a side hustle on Etsy and thinking of using social media for my inbound plans. Thus I am looking for some practical approach to optimise the brand-new IG biz account.
Ain't looking for overnight success, just want to take the first step right.
Looking forward for some advises, thank you all in advance
I just mean that if you post with a hashtag that has 200m posts you’re competing with 200m posts to rank high in that hashtag. Thousands of those 200m posts will have come from accounts with already established followings, so they’ll have a head start in ranking high. Whereas is you use a hashtag with 50k posts, then there’s obviously a lot less competition to rank higher.
This is why I like using a mix of small, large & very specific hashtags. This way the engagement I get from the smaller hashtags helps me rank higher in the larger ones. There’s tonnes of videos online about this.
Obviously there’s exceptions to every rule, it’s definitely possible to create a piece of content and rank high in a large hashtag without an existing following. But it is a lot harder than doing well in a smaller hashtag.
Like others have mentioned, define your niche and most importantly post consistently, like 4 times a day if possible. Reels get better reach than normal posts. Also with hashtags, use some smaller ones, you don’t have much chance of ranking high in a hashtag with 200m posts in it at the start. I’ve gone from 0-70k in just over 4 months and the content I’m posting isn’t anything special.

That’s just what works for me posting reels on instagram, i think more than 4 times a day could cause some unfollows but i want to post as often as possible to grow as fast as possible. This all depends on niche of course cos some niches you’ll find it harder to have enough content for 4 a day.
