Tips on setting up a tryout
Post Body

I will be evaluating tryouts for several teams which I am not the coach for. Given 2 hours and an estimated 15-25 kids, how would you setup the tryout? The coaches want me to have several categories to score the players on and add up the score, and then they will pick the top 12-15 players based on my scores only.

The teams are 10U - 14U and will be on separate days. How would you structure the 2 hour tryout? What categories would you choose to score the players on? Would you choose to just grade the players overall and scrap the category idea?

Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Edit: Just want to give a bit more information. I donā€™t necessarily agree with this system, but itā€™s the way the club has it setup. I donā€™t know anything about the coaches and how they like to play. I am meant to be an ā€œindependentā€ evaluator for the kids, and they select the highest scored players anonymously (regardless of position - except for the keeper).
