Batman’s Suit BvS v JL

I was reading some behind the scenes stuff with Michael Wilkinson and how he said that the regular Batsuit in Justice League was a lighter grey to pay more homage to the comics yet if we look at literally any side by side comparison, the JL suit is near black. I always hated that return to the black suit but reading this made me think - “is the color change a Whedon-era change?” In a similar vain to Superman’s overly silver/blue suit? Is the Batsuit actually supposed to be light grey like in BvS?
