Why do guys delete conversations?

I'm not referring to actually convos - I get that - I often delete convos that don't go anywhere. I'm talking about if I say hello to someone and they don't want to chat. Why delete my hello? To me, it would make more sense to ignore or block me. I don't care - just curious about the mindset. What do you think?
