Hey all, old man Smiter here. I've been playing Smite since its beta and have played fairly actively off and on throughout the years. I play the game both at a relatively high level (high platinum-low diamond) and as a casual player.
Smite has lost its way. I know the game is doing very well and is successful, and I'm very happy about that. However, what was once a fascinating game of mythology, lore, and fantasy, is becoming a fortnite-esque cash grab. Games are the result of a business trying to make money I completely understand that. I don't know what happened over the last 2 years, but since the TMNT battlepass the game has been in a cultural plummet.
Don't get me wrong I love the game and I'm not going to stop because of this, honestly I'm just a little heart broken that one of the few games I've been able to play an indulge my love of history is being completely ruined by pop art (monstercat battle pass makes me want to vomit), unrelated collaborations (stranger things?? FFS like we need more annoying ass little kid skins), and sell out financial traps like the $40 direct purchase Avatar skins.
Nothing will change and I don't expect it too, I just hope that someone at Hi-Rez reads this and knows how disappointed some of us are in the loss of what was once a great fantasy genre game.
