Can't play smite.

Why do we first have to update any installed games from the hirez launcher before we can start a game that doesn't need an update because of that game. Sometimes im just not having enough time to patch that game before playing this game and it is making me salty. So is there any way of bypassing this and playing a game without updating that game first?
