Opinion on Platforms?

My brother thinks Platforms are the Spawn of the devil and we always go to FD. I try to tell him that there are more stages, but he says “FD iS tHe MoSt LeGaL StAGE EvUR!”
I disagree. Platforms are supposed to be an extra Factor on how you build your combos. What can you use the Platforms that help You or screw your opponent over?
I’m just asking you all. What’s your opinion on Platform stages like Battlefield? Do you like them and why do you say this?
