Info for a First Time Watcher

Thanks to this sub I am finally going to watch this show from the very beginning. The last time I remember watching the show was give or take around the time that the Doomsday season was airing on television.
Granted I don’t really remember much about the show, save for a few scenes here and there. So with that I come to you good folks asking for advice, for both myself and any other new watchers.
If you were to impart any info to someone about the show, stuff they should know, what would that info be?
