How to get editing experience?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post! I’m always on YouTube and recently learned how straightforward video editing can be as a professional programmer (using ffmpeg to slice, compose, & add effects)
I’m not really a content creator so I was wondering if there were any places where I could connect with smaller YouTubers who wouldn’t mind letting me edit their videos (for free) despite my lack of actual editing experience
