Post Body

I'[M] a lecturer at a university in the UK and this week I've been interviewing undergrad students for a summer project where they'll be helping out with research within my team. It's a bit of a tame story but this subreddits standards.

Being a STEM researcher everyone who interviews is generally the same person, an eager guy who's looking for some work experience over the summer. Things are starting to change though and it's great seeing more diversity in STEM.

This story from this week though comes from one of my interviews with a second year student. For context since it's a small project within my team, I'm the only interviewer. The interviews take place in my office during the day.

She turned up on time, which isn't usual when doing this interviews. When she came in she was wearing a low cut shirt which was open enough to see the top of her bra and plenty of her cleavage. She had paired this with a skirt that stopped well above the knee. Not great clothing for the UK this week. I instantly knew what she was trying but went along with the interview as normal. I caught her leaning in on occasion, giving me an amazing view as she did so.

At the end we started talking a bit more casually. We talked about summer plans and how I don't think I'll be taking that much time off so that I can finish this project. That's when she said something along the lines of "well I'll be here to keep you entertained".

I'm considering giving her the job based on this confidence alone. She's qualified as well. But I can't help but feel that she knew exactly what was going to happen the moment she got dressed.

I can't wait for the summer now.
