I'm Bosnian and I will likely be visiting your beautiful country next month for the first time. Obviously while I can understand the Slovenian language to a certain degree, I can definitely not speak Slovenian and I don't plan on trying but I was thinking of speaking Bosnian (or Serbo-Croatian, whatever some of you prefer to call it) with locals, workers at hotels, restaurants, tourist guides etc. Would that be considered rude/offensive to Slovenians in any way? It just feels weird to me to start forcing myself to speak English when I go to a country with such a similar language to mine.

What do you think? I know the older generations in Slovenia used to learn Serbo-Croatian in schools during Yugoslavia but nowadays I don't think many Slovenians below the age of 30 speak or even understand Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian etc. though I could be wrong. Please let me know.
