Nah I aināt going to rant and rave. I have my own feelings on HOW it was all done, but that is neither here nor there.
These are of course just my thoughts and theories and I stand welcome to be corrected.
Slipknot appears to be heading the direction of attempting to be an ever evolving creative collective. One that is seeking to exist beyond what it began as.
Introducing new musicians, cycling them through, this is all a part of that process.
For those who do not know, the various members do more than just their stage acts. Clown, Tortilla, Craig (before departure) all contributed to guitars and samples etc.
By cycling members and introducing new minds they appear to be trying to continually reinvent and reinvigorate.
As a lifelong (since 99ā) maggot it has been difficult to see what was a brotherhood appear to be disbanded, but as an adult I understand that people grow and change and so do priorities and beliefs.
As a drummer myself, I had great respect for Jay while also noting significant stylistic and technical differences from Joey. Jay was not Joey and that was ok. The next drummer will not be like Jay (likely) and that is ok. I still think Clown is a bit of a douche, but if one accepts that Slipknotās priority is focused on evolving creative process at the risk of moving members on then some of the decision making begins to make sense.
And in the words if Tom Hanks playing Forrest Gump: āthatās about all I hafta say about thatā.
