My father has sleep apnea so I’m not sure if this could be a factor in this. I was sleeping on my back. The dream was very short and I only remember the last few seconds of it which is when things got strange. I was driving my car at night and suddenly my entire body started to feel like it was shutting down, like I was on the verge of passing out or my brain wasn’t getting enough oxygen. My whole body had this numb buzzing feeling. At the same time the feeling started my windshield randomly fogged to the point where I couldn’t see though it. I tried to pull my car over, but the brakes weren’t working. My car was slowly losing speed as I was trying to keep myself conscious and pull the emergency brake, but I couldn’t because I was too weak from the fainting feeling. As I’m sitting in my car slipping out of consciousness thinking I’m dying of a heart attack I realize I’m now staring at my ceiling. I was out of the dream and I could move but for a few seconds I still had the dizzy buzzing fainting feeling throughout my body. My heart was also pounding which never happens when I wake up from a dream. Could this be sleep paralysis or is it something else?
