Tech to patient ratio.
Post Body

Hi yall, RPSGT here in Florida. My question is in pertaining to patient to tech ratio. At my facility, which I've been at for 14 years now, utilities a 3 to 1 rule as our standard. The only time we have less is when someone Cxs or no shows. Normally, this isn't an issue for me or my team but lately, our daytime staff is pushing the ratio and disregarding patients ambulatory status. Patients that are often morbidly obese or amputees and can't transfer on their own and are sometimes outside our scope of care or simply require more care than what we can offer with 3 patients. We often work solo at my facility, so I have no one to help me out in this situation. When I brought this up to my manager, her response was, " if it's not noted in their chart, there's nothing we can do about it". Or as I understood it, deal with it and do your job.

As I understand it, AASM recommends a 2 to 1 ratio, under "usual conditions". Anyone else have the same issue or any recommendations on how to address this to my higher-ups.

Thank you.
