Sleep apnea - Surgery options and questions. Fixing the cause
Post Body

Hi, I have had sleep apnea for years. i currently use a guard which brings my jaw forward. This guard causes alot of issues for me (dentist fitted) and i do not wish to have cpap. I want to fix the problem from the root cause and therefore just live life with out a guard or machine.

im still young and healthy, not overweight. Ent says everything is ok.

would my next option be to see a surgeon for MMA surgery? My teeth and bite are already perfect due to braces so im not sure how this would affect my surgery and if i would need futher otho work done post surgery if i was to qualify for the surgery?

Also, would anyone know how the surgeon decides (what info they use) to see if i would be eligible for surgery. I do have a slight recessed chin from my side profile which i believe will help my case however my jaw is very wide to begin with and most peoples before and afters are alot more norrow then mine.

I have apt booked with my dr and from there will most likey get a referral to a surgeon unless i am missing some steps and MMA surgery isnt the option ?

Thanks :)
