Bows not working

I have been using zephyr for the majority of my play through and have had great success with it however, I recently received a dragonbone bow (supposed to be the strongest) and it acting weird. For one, it fires at the same speed as zephyr and it also seems to do less damage. I used the same arrows on the same enemy and zephyr did more damage in a single shot than the dragonbone bow. It wasn’t a critical hit either. Any way to get the proper damage out of the bow?
