Ive had 31s for most my life. But I admit. Im no pro with mechanic side of things. I can do services myself but usually the mechanics do the major stuff.
This current one. I got in 2018. Body wise. Mint. Mechanically. So many issues. Thermostat screwed. Radiator screwed. Power steering... list goes on. Dad had majority of it fixed at his house by him and my husband. Started driving it around and it just had heaps of little things that made it unreliable.
Is stock rb30 1989 model Auto
I took it to mechanics where they found heaps of corrosion in the wires and rewired everything.
It ran perfect for a year.
My power steering broke and blew fluid Everywhere while I was in the city. Dad told me it's flammable . Get it towed home. We had it replaced the next day.
Since then I've had random issues. It became a local car only as least I could get it towed home if it breaks down.
Some issues where - bit of a random misfire - randomly dies. Usually coming to a stop like at lights. Sometimes it starts again. Sometimes it really struggles. Ill pull over and can roadside assist. They come and it starts fine. It's fully random. Can go weeks without an issue. Then does it. This is what we gave up on and put it in a shed and got me a new reliable car plus it was cheaper to run.
It's been 2 years sitting there. I went and got it a new battery. Redid fluids. And it's got mechanics in a month. I thought screw this. I'll use it as a run around car for a few wks and least it's registered for the mechanics.
I got into it. Took off. And it's hard to explain. It's not accelerating properly. I can't tell if it's a trans issue or something to do with the accelerator tbh.
In town i thought trans and it wasnt changing gears right. But I took it to a 100km zone and Id have to put my foot flat on the ground and wait like 5-10 seconds for it to go... oh crap she's accelerating better go. The moment my fooy came off it would go down in speed and pretty much roll. And I'd have to flat foot it again to get up to speed. Repeat. In town at slower speeds to felt like trans was struggling to swap between gears. Fluids were checked and great level and new in colour.
So Im not sure if it's the accelerator that's not doing its job or trans atm.
Im also not sure if this may be a whole new issue or it's related to above with the dying suddenly. Im unsure if it's coincidence it happened after the power steering went or Maybe the fluid got on things it shouldn't and did something?
Any clue what this may be and what to look at?
Ive done air filters. Fluids changed. Emptied full tank and refilled with new fuel. Leads were brand new in it when I pulled it up. Battery is brand new. Got it yesterday.
When it's day time again. I'll try get it on video and add it below.
I know from my history of them that the trans on these isn't the best rated one. I can drive manual just disabled so it can be difficult. That's why I chose auto.
Edit- Was the MAF ❤️
