Right ear bud switching on again once I close case lid

Whenever I put my earbuds back in the case, they will initially turn off and start charging. But as soon as the lid clicks close, the right one will turn on again, causing it to reconnect when I don't want it to, and never being able to charge like that. Any ideas on what I could do to rectify this? As it makes using them a real pain
