I'm going to be building a motorized easel for my mom. The motor will work to raise or lower the height of the painting on the easel and be manually controlled (up/down/off). I'm an enginerd by day working on and around CNC's, and dead tree carcass mangler by night so I think I've got a handle on the design and build but I've never had to buy a "home gamer" grade motor before.
I think I want a geared high torque 120V AC synchronous motor, something like this, but I'm sure there is a better place than Amazon or Princess Auto to buy motors. I think what I'm trying to do would usually be done with a stepper motor but I was hoping to avoid the extra complexity of a power supply and controls if I can (I know little about these but could learn if needed).
I'm in Canada, motor will see maybe a minute of run time a day so cheap is best.
Any help in finding a motor, thoughts on if I should be doing a stepper motor setup instead, or other general advice is appreciated.
