Can I buffer moisturiser containing Petrolatum?

I use Aveeno Dry skin relief (blue cap) as my face moisturiser, works really well for me.
I want to try buffering my treatment that contains Adapalene, Benzoyl peroxide and Clindamycin. Is it ok to buffer using this moisturiser if it contains Petrolatum?
I thought this makes it impossible to absorb, but the cream doesn't really seem that thick or sticky like vaseline or anything
