Am I the only one that thinks hydrocolloid patches are not it? [Acne]

Hear me out, I think they make sense for small zits with visible puss, but I never get those.

I do get painful pustules which also get a head after a while, but no matter how careful I am with extraction, hydrocolloid patches just don't help.

I'd pierce a pustule, gently push the gunk out with clean hands and slap a patch on it but in a few hours, it'd still feel painful and when I take off the patch, there's more puss. And thus a vicious circle starts where I end up pushing it all out in frustration.

Please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong or some people's skin/zits just don't like the patches?
