Started washing my face daily again after over 2 years of not doing it. Now I’m breaking out.
For over 2 years I only cleaned my face every 7-14 days. I was suffering from pretty bad depression. One the days that I did it I would exfoliate, use toner, then moisturize. I had hormonal chin and neck cystic acne during that time.
I have an oily T-zone and normal cheeks, also some aging skin and hormonal acne.
My depression is getting better so I decided to start cleaning my face daily. I started about a week ago and now I have even more acne and in places like my forehead that didn’t used to get it.
Eventually I want to get good products and some to treat acne and aging, but to start I’m just using what I have on hand and a couple things I just bought before I found this sub.
My new routine:
AM-
Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution for combination/oily skin I use this just on my T-Zone and neck in the morning
Beauty Without Cruelty Oil Free Moisturizer I’ve been using this product for years because it is matte and oil free. During those 2 years though I only used it every 7-14 days. I might need more moisture on my cheeks now but I have a full jar of this and I don’t think it’s the acne culprit.
Clean and Clear Advantage acne spot treatment salicylic acid I spot treat any zits that I see
PM-
Garnier Skin Active - The Gentle Sulfate Free Cleanser I wash my whole face and neck with this. Just a small amount.
Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion I use this on my T-zone and neck as a toner.
Beauty Without Cruelty Oil Free Moisturizer I slather this all over my face and neck.
Clean and Clear Advantage acne spot treatment salicylic acid I spot treat any zits that I see.
Once a week-
Alba Botanica Hawaiian Facial Scrub pineapple enzyme I use this in place of the Garnier cleanser once a week. I don’t think this is the acne culprit either though because it’s not new to me.
Eventually I want to switch to a moisturizer like the PM cerave that has ceramides and I want to add a vitamin C product but I’m following the SCA routine recommendation of just getting the basics down first. I just don’t know what to make of the new additional acne.
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!
