[Acne] Is my moisturiser clogging my pores? (small spots and whiteheads)

Hello, I'm over 4 months into tretinoin cream treatment.

What I've noticed is I'm still getting frequent spots all over where I have always got acne (cheeks, chin and jawline) - however these spots seem to be "different" to what I used to get. Where it used to be mostly large, deeper and inflamed spots. It is now much smaller and flatter red spots which form these small whiteheads.

To me these would indicate a clogged pore, but I don't know?

I have now tried 3 different moisturisers with no apparent change in the appearance of these spots (Aveeno daily lotion blue, Cetaphil moisturising lotion green, and Simple kind to skin replenishing rich).

I was thinking of trying the Eucerin 5% urea face cream now. But really I feel like I'm shooting in the dark, and I feel like really my breakouts aren't from my moisturiser.

What else could be causing this, I really want it to stop.

My routine:

  • Using short contact BP or azelaic acid 10% in AM.

  • Tret 0.05% PM after cleansing with simple moisturising cleanser
