I have been using The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution every Saturday for 3 or 4 weeks now. Everyone raves about what a great, effective product it is. That may be true, but . . . when I use it, I feel absolutely nothing, hence the title.
I don't know if it's the same idea as the rest of The Ordinary products, in that you have to use it for 6 months to see any significant improvements. But even then, I don't "feel" anything when I use it. Barely even a tingle. I even leave it on for way longer than the recommended limit of 10 minutes (out of laxity, not from trying to make it more effective) and absolutely nothing happens. I guess I'm hoping for some kind of visual improvement or refreshed feeling, but I get nothing. I don't even experience irritation, burning, itching, tingling, etc. (these are just the negative examples and are clearly not what I want!). I can even turn right around and apply hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and mandelic acids right on top, and still nothing.
As for my routine, I've kept it up for around 4 months, and there's been a marginal improvement, if any.
AM:
- The Ordinary hyaluronic acid
- The Ordinary Niacinamide
- The Ordinary moisturizer
- Coppertone Pure & Simple sunscreen
PM:
- Double Cleanse (Softymo Speedy Oil Cleanser CeraVe)
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid
- The Ordinary Niacinamide
- The Ordinary Mandelic acid
- The Ordinary moisturizer
I'm just not getting the life-changing results that other people are getting. I have been told that I need Fraxel laser treatments, but that's not feasible right now. In the mean time, what am I doing wrong?
EDIT: It's not that I think it SHOULD burn, nor do I want it to. I just figured I would feel some iota or hint of something that might indicate that I have used the product. I literally felt nothing at all.
And I don't think that leaving a peel on my face will make it more effective. I did that because I realized I didn't have to set a timer and run to the bathrooms to rinse it off as soon as time was up. The urgency wasn't there, so I would just relax with YouTube videos and rinse it off whenever.
The basic idea here is that my overall routine has produced underwhelming results, even with top products and months of consistent use. No need to make this an inflammatory discussion.
EDIT #2: There still seems to be some confusion about what I want from my skin care. I do not want burning and irritation. Those are just some examples I mentioned too further illustrate how minimal the experience has been. And I only left the peel on for longer because I could. It obviously doesn't bother my skin, so I might as well rinse it off whenever I feel like it. Please refer to the text in parentheses.
