Feel free to let me know if this is not allowed, but I wanted to share my excitement and review something I bought. I am not trying to sell anything, nor am I affiliated with the company in any way.
So I bought the Dr. Pimple Popper "Zit Happens" Gift Set. I've wanted it since last year, and I finally had a little spare cash. Now that it's here, I wanted to give an honest review of it.
As you can see from the photos, it comes with:'
- A 0.3-ounce bottle of 2% salicylic acid spot treatment
- A comedone extractor
- Blackhead tweezers
- A canvas print zippered storage bag
- Bonus: mine came with two benzoyl peroxide wipes
So the comedone extractor and the blackhead tweezers are supposed to be better than the generic, inexpensive ones you can buy on Amazon. I could see that. They both feel practically weightless, but they don't feel flimsy in any way.
The comedone extractor was smaller and lighter than I thought, but this is not a bad thing. It doesn't feel flimsy or awkward to use. I don't have a lot of blackheads right now, but I did find a deep one just outside the bridge of my nose. I couldn't get it with the extractor, but it may be an awkward angle or me just needing to practice using it. It didn't tear up my skin at all.
The hinges on the tweezers are sturdy, and everything is perfectly aligned. They feel featherlight, but not cheap. They made it easy and fun to extract lots of little "plugs." You can also use the pointed end of the tweezers to lift out a plug, a stuck piece of skin, or an ingrown hair. This one also did not tear up my skin.
The bag itself is adorable, and that's what got me to buy the whole kit instead of just the extractor and/or the tweezers. It fits everything in the kit with room to spare. The fabric isn't too thin, and the zipper seems like a good quality.
As for the salicylic acid topical, I haven't tried it yet. Salicylic acid face washes never did much for me, but those are usually only 1%, and they rinse away. I'm hoping I see better results with the spot treatment.
So far, it was worth it, especially since I got to treat myself for once!
