So I have issues with ingrown hairs under my chin and all over my neck. I tweeze up to 5 or 6 hairs a day, and it would be more if the hairs weren't stuck under my skin. It's also now leaving red marks and bumps where the ingrown hairs are. Aside from that, I have some uneven skin tone and some ice pick acne scars, as I had pretty severe acne for almost 13 years. Had two attempts at Accutane plus a few years of Spironolactone, and finally cleared up.
About 6 months ago, I felt it was time to buckle down and really make an effort to address all my skin concerns. I've always been diligent about my skin care, but I never got into the advanced stuff.
So after some research, here is what I came up with:
1. Cleanse with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash at night.
2. Moisturize with AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion
3. Follow-up with Stridex Maximum in the mornings, before I apply makeup.
But I have recently noticed that my makeup is applying in uneven patches, and I realized it's probably my psoriasis. So I figure I need to go back to using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub instead of the orange stuff.
But the AmLactin and the Stridex aren't really working that great, either. I've been using both religiously for 4 months now, and it's like I'm having no reaction at all. I'm still getting tons of ingrown hairs, and my skin looks exactly the same. It's like I spent $20 for nothing. I know that these products won't help the acne scars, but everything else hasn't changed one bit. I haven't even had any skin sensitivity, peeling or dryness.
So what am I missing? What do I do? I just really need routine help!
Useful Information:
* Skin Type: Usually pretty normal; occasionally a few minor stress/hormonal breakouts
* Skin Concerns: Ingrown hairs, uneven skin tone, acne scars
* Current Routine: Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash and AmLactin at night; Stridex Maximum Strength in the morning before makeup - haven't changed any products yet
* Product Concerns: I have been using this routine for about 4 months or longer.
* Product Recommendations: I prefer mainstream drugstore/inexpensive products, but I am open to "underground" and pricier products. Please try to stay under $50, though.
